Flood, landslide cause mayhem in Kalikot


KATHMANDU, JUN 18 - Thirteen people have been reported missing as they were washed off by the flood in Sannigad River in Kalikot district on Tuesday. Similarly a man was killed by a landslide triggered by heavy rainfall in the area.
Man Bahadur Shahi, Takka Bahadur Bam, Krishna Neupane, Satya Bahadur Shahi, his wife, their five-year old son and three-year old daughter, Kala Thapa, Chanchala Shahi, Him Chula Shahi, Kamara Shahi, her infant daughter and Bhupendra Shahi have been reported to be missing in the flood .  
Moreover, many houses along with two bridges over the river have also been washed off. The flood is also reported to have rendered 17 families homeless .
Similarly the landslide at Sipkhana VDC killed Dal Sarki and washed off 10 houses in Mumra VDC leaving 43 people homeless . Also, a flood in the Karnali River along Kotwada VDC destroyed 18 hotels and shops.
According to the police, the homeless have been given shelter at the office of Potmara Power House.
